13.What about going swimming or into a hot tub? Pools, hot tubs, and natural bodies of water are teeming with harmful bacteria. If you must go swimming during the first few months of your healing, you have to cover the piercing with a water proof patch and schedule one of your daily cleansing immediately after having any possible contact with potential harmful organisms. During the first few months of healing, the cell walls inside of the piercing are not strong enough to defend the body against bacterial invaders. A product called a Tega Derm Patch is a water proof patch bandage available at most pharmacies. The water proof patch can provide a good measure of protection, although there are no guarantees that it will keep any piercing 100% dry. 14.What metals are safe for piercing?
